UK National Rankings

IECU has allocated a quota to the UK of 3 male and 3 female sailors for entry into the World Championship. In order to enable a fair selection a National Ranking process is followed (see full details below). Events to count for National Rankings are marked with [NR] on the Events Calendar page avaliable here.

IECA National Rankings Rules
1.  The Europe National Rankings will be based on the best three results of the last five designated National Ranking [NR] events. The results of each designated event will be used to update the ranking list and the results of what was the first event on the list will be dropped after five events have occurred.

2. Eligibility
    a. To be eligible for the National Ranking Trophy or for selection to events, the sailor shall, at the time of the award or selection,
        (I) be a full member of the IECA(UK)
(II) hold a valid measurement certificate for the boat or boats in which they compete.

    b. At the time selection is being considered, the sailor shall satisfy ISAF Regulation 19 – Eligibility Code.

3. The events to be designated NR will be decided by the IECA(UK) Committee, but must include the National and Inland Championships. They will be published in the Class magazine.

4. Scoring

    a. Points are to be awarded as for the Low Point Scoring System (RRS Appendix A), except as provided in Rule 6.c below.

    b. If there is a tie in the ranking it shall be decided by RRS Appendix A8.1.

    c. For any event in which a competitor does not compete they will be awarded DNC points not less than the DNC points for the declared entry at the UK National Championships or 100 points, whichever is the greater.

    d. If any designated event is cancelled, or abandoned without a declared result, the ranking list will not be updated. The current rankings will stand.

    e. The dates on which selections for a particular event will be chosen from the ranking list shall be decided by the IECA(UK) Committee. The date shall be not less than three weeks before the closing date for entries for that event, and shall be published by the Association.

    f. The ranking list for any sub group, e.g. women, men, youth, veteran, is to be taken from their positions, in low points order, on the overall NR list.
